After moving back here from Hawii in 1993, I was fortunate to land a job as a "housemanager" for a wealthy family in Pacific Hts. I continued in this line of work for many years. I was able to use my skills of organizing and problem solving to oversee and maintain huge homes in the city, and Marin County.

I had to stop working in 2007 when I became severely disabled from arthritis in my hip and foot. A hip replacement helped a lot, but I decided against foot surgery.

I figured it was time to do some volunteer work, and decided to become a "cat cuddler" at the Rohnert Park Animal Shelter. After having to give up a cat in a move, I needed some "fur" time. I've been there 2 years.

In the past 6 months, I've become involved in a local group called the StrayPetNetwork, an online site to list lost and found pets. Since I've joined, it's evolved to include finding homes for cats (and dogs) along with a current project of feeding and neutering feral cats on a route in Sebastopol.

A handful of active members have been donating to feed and neuter the ferals with Forgotten Felines, and provide vet care for those injured and abused cats found on the trail. Most of us are on a limited income, and unable to sustain this ongoing cost.

We had our first fundraiser on Feb. 11th. The HAVE a HEART Bake sale brought in $180, which is enough to neuter 6 cats. We're very grateful to those supporters who came out to indulge in our baked goodies at Oliver's in Cotati.

Our next fundraiser will be a yard sale, so if you have any items to contribute please let us know. One of our members also sells items on Ebay to raise money for food and care for the ferals and strays, and she accepts donations for this purpose also.

Please call Rosanne at 707 827-3616 to donate items

Contributions may also be made to:

arthunter333@gmail.com

Our goal is to become non-profit, as we add more members to our group who would be willing to serve on a board for this purpose.
