Hi, I'm Brian. I'm 26 years old and I moved to Rohnert Park immediately following my graduation from Yuba City High School to attend college at Sonoma State University. That's where my flare for teaching ignited. There, I graduated with a double major B.A. in chemistry and music. After college I tried to get a chemistry job, but every position I applied for was overrun with overqualified applicants. Then my mom suggested being a substitute teacher. I was nervous about it, because I have a hard time speaking in front of groups.
But immediately loved it — from the first day forward. I can't handle jobs where I do the same thing to set hours in the same place everyday. Before becoming a sub, I think the longest I ever worked anywhere was five months. I just can't take it for very long. However, I just started my third year as a substitute teacher throughout Sonoma County, this semester, and I can't imagine doing anything else. It feels less like a job than just a part of who I am.
