The Spreckels Performing Arts Center, owned by the city of Rohnert Park, is a theater and community-arts campus…More that's open year-round. It produces seasonal shows and programs ranging in theme from zombies to a Johnny Cash tribute.
The center has two theaters: the Nellie W. Codding Theatre, with 550 seats; and the Bette Condiotti Experimental Theater, with 125 seats. Spreckels' theaters are available for rent.
The theater complex was constructed for $10 million as part of Rohnert Park's 1970s master plan. It currently gets much of its funding from private endowments, which pay for the day-to-day operations and shows. Being a public facility, Spreckels barely makes it off the chopping block of budget cuts some years. The theater strives to maintain affordable ticket prices and subsidizes rental rates for community organizations that use the facilities.
