I like how our judicial system rules (and other major laws and policies) are decided by voters whoRead More couldn't find Iraq on a globe, can't balance their checkbooks, believe the world is 10,000 years old, and think 48÷2(9+3) = 2.
KMA June 29, 2014 at 01:27 pm
The laws are not decided by votes, unless it is an initiative, and then like Prop 8- it will beRead More overturned by a bunch of liberals .The Congress or Legislature writes and votes on the laws- the people vote these guys in, but not the measures themselves. This is a Republic, not a democracy. So before being critical of others, look in the mirror.

I refer to this as the illegal alien anti-deportation act. Identity theft? No problem, noRead More deporation. Welfare fraud? Please be nice in the future, etc.

I like with Marcus. We recently drove up to Oregon to look at some colleges and visit friends. WeRead More actually saw a Sign along the I 5 that said welcome to the state of Jefferson. Wimpy though the sign was it smacked of people voted against their own best interests.

Totally off the subject: But why is this online newsletter called the AgouraHills Patch? I thoughRead More this was Imperial Beach.
Penny Arévalo July 21, 2014 at 01:49 pm
This story got posted statewide, as it's a statewide story. But for commenting purposes, you areRead More directed back to the original Patch which first posted it, which is in Agoura Hills.

Great, more taxes to the CRPUD to mismanage. When is RP going to get the picture that no matter howRead More many new taxes we add, they are not going to go where needed. And 1/2 the people who are voting for this are not even homeowners, so it does not effect them. Plus the schools will be rolling in the money as soon as the casino gives them the money they were promised. We moved our kids out of the district and they are going to schools just as good, but better managed so we only do the yearly walk-a-thon and get more enrichment programs, to boot! It can be done people! I hope one day, we are able to stop adding to our property taxes every 2 years.

this boy will do nothing . look at the republican party, when they were in what jobs did they bringRead More in and stayed ? that party shut down many state hospitals, so now we have sick folks running around, and what have they done for the VETS that come back from war ? then who the hell is this boy ? no one in the BAY AREA and up the coast do not know of this boy . Oh well Jerry will do 4 more years and retire if he does not die before then .
c5 June 10, 2014 at 06:59 pm
Kashkari will get smoked, it doesn't matter what he says or does. I will not vote for Brown but heRead More will win going away. Brown's legacy will end up being not enough water storage, a high speed rail system that goes nowhere and leaves a huge hole in the budget, the highest taxes and least friendly place to do business in the country, and a bankrupt fiscal situation with massive unfunded state employee benefits and pensions.
Ken Briggs June 11, 2014 at 03:58 am
but who is this boy ? still no one has seen him in the north part of the state , no one has seen himRead More in Clearlake or Lakeport, Ukiah, Eureka area , so who is this guy . it is June 11th and where is this guy ?

You are correct, however if a viewer does not see the ribbon under the large photo of Mr Rabbitt,Read More you would miss it, as I did. As far as your links are concerned, Mr King has website that is much more informative and more current than Facebook. BTW, why not a large photo of Mr King next to his opponent? Wouldn't that be a better balance?

Well, thank goodness it's working, as I sat up until nearly midnight downloading all the photos andRead More linking all candidates' sites. As for the side-by-side idea, it's not the format I have available to me for posting. So I ran the pix in order of the names in the story. Would have done it your way if I could. :(

This is why there can be no ability to control costs in our health care in the US. Greedy lawyersRead More wanting to "cash-in" on every medical event that results in a bad outcome for patients. We can not afford to use our health care system as a "get rich quick" scheme for lawyers. We need "no-fault" medical compensation for adverse outcomes. States (and countries) that already have that in place have done well for patients and have done well for their health care systems so that all the dollars spent actually go toward health care. Medical malpractice is a scam that acts to greatly benefit lawyers, and rarely truly provides enough compensation for those injured in medical events, so that all their needs can be provided for. Medical malpractice needs to end in the US! We can not afford to drain more millions of dollars away from actual medical care and real compensation for patients that experience adverse events. We need compensation for patients to occur without lawyers getting rich. Physician negligence needs to be addressed by licensing boards.

Jeez a Louise! Only in California. Hey, while we're at it, lets add Landscapers. If a landscaperRead More screws up your lawn, he's liable for $100,000. (Minimum).

Lawyers are happy, health care costs will go up, and doctors will be more cautious around usingRead More judgement on treatment. All good news...
A neighborhood in Rohnert Park. Credit: Patch archive
Judd Ames November 6, 2013 at 10:12 am
Yesterday, during the Graton casino opening, Rohnert Park voters supported a city counsel and publicRead More safety department request for a renewed half-cent sales tax, by more than a two-to-one margin. In spite of incessant attacks on our RP officials, from out-of-town critics and Marilee Taylor Montgomery’s donate-to-me Stop Graton Casino scam, local voters expressed favor. Meanwhile critics and hypocrites will continue their attacks, adding nothing more than more derision to our reality; again demonstrating elitism and exclusion exist at all levels of our social strata. Like it or not, the tally reflects our local resident support (>68% Yes) for working with FIRG/Station, for mutual success and benefit to our communities.

Fool me once shame on you...Fool me twice shame on me. I am voting NO...With all due respect in myRead More opinion the money that came in from measure E was not spent as wisely as it chould have been (opening M pool and paying for the phone poll on this measure was a waste of the residents of Rohnert Park's hard earned money.
Mark Kalagorgevich October 10, 2013 at 10:14 am
It is never good to assume a tax measure will pass even if apathy generates little excitement onRead More either side. Rohnert Park has financial issues the same as all gov't during the worst recession of our lifetime. Police, fire, and schools have been maintaining services at a reasonably high level due to local support, including this sales tax revenue source. We have big unknowns ahead from the casino opening and additional expenses and revenues that should bring. I think we should let a sales tax continue only if there is another expiration built into the law. So it will get a no vote from me this time even though I voted yes last time.
Ricardo Sorentino October 10, 2013 at 05:50 pm
Any reason why we are being asked to extend a tax more than a year it is supposed to expire? And whyRead More would anyone want to extend a tax to eternity, based on the majority of some future council voting an end to it? Is it really possible that council members would EVER eliminate revenue? That tax will never go away; it will be used for more overtime, bigger government by way of more employees, more benefit and retirement costs that we can't even afford now... it will allow them to spend money replacing vehicles that are say four years old and getting new ones every three years, for example. Please, for the sake of some fiscal sanity, VOTE NO! In 2015, when the current tax actually expires, we can revisit the issue and if needed, put an end date to that sales tax increase, but for all eternity? Come on, people! VOTE NO!
