The Rohnert Park-Cotati School District has announced several new hires for the 2013-2014 year.
The new principal at Thomas Page Elementary will be Amy Carter, who is moving from the Central Valley to take the job. Carter is currently principal at Colony Oak Elementary School in Ripon, a school like Thomas Page, has a high number of English Language Learners.
Carter replaces current principal Don Rasmussen, who resigned earlier this year and now teaches at at Lawrence Jones Middle School.
Over at Monte Vista, Sarah Fountain has been hired as the new principal. Fountain spent 12 years as a resource specialist at Petaluma City Schools and replaces Jane Wheeler. A 28-year veteran of the Cotati-Rohnert Park Unified, Wheeler is stepping down as principal but plans to stay on at the district.
Rancho Cotate teacher Dawn Mawhinney has been named the new assistant principal. Mawhinney currently teaches economics, world history and AP government.
