This is the goal of the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute at Sonoma State University, that gives Sonoma County residents over 50 a chance to take short, non-credit courses in the arts, humanities, social and natural sciences. There are no tests or grades, simply the pleasure of learning.

At the institute’s summer session, that begins July 9, students can learn about the wonders of astronomy, the future of regenerative medicine, DNA sequencing and the science of aging.

In the second session, which kicks off July 23, students learn about Shakespeare’s ability to mine the psychology of the Elizabethan Court in his works, and later learn about what it takes to put together a successful film score.
