Foreclosed Homes: How Many And Where They Are In Rohnert Park and Cotati

Rohnert Park has 117 homes still in some stage of foreclosure and Cotait has 154, according to information released Thursday by Realty Trac. Of those, 13 houses are currently for sale in Rohnert Park and 20 in Cotati.

The median sale price for a foreclosure home in Rohnert Park was $263,100 in March. That compares with a median price of $302,400 for all homes sold in the city. In Cotatli, the median sale price for a foreclosure home was $239,500 and the median price for all homes sold was $280,500.

Foreclosed homes appear to be getting cleared from the market. Between August 1 and March 31, there were 342 homes sold in Rohnert Park and 462 in Cotati.

Overall the number of homeowners entering the foreclosure process is declining in the area. The number of properties that received a foreclosure filing in Rohnert Park declined by 15 percent between March and April. April's total was 69 percent lower than the same time last year. While foreclosures in Cotati spiked this spring—jumping 50 percent from March to April—the April total was 70 percent lower than the same time last year, according to Realty Trac.

Here are the foreclosure figures for communities in Sonoma County. The numbers are current through April 30. The recently sold figures are from August 2012 to March 31, 2013. Current foreclosures do not include homes recently sold.

Realty Trac reported foreclosures across the country were down 5 percent in April from the previous month. Foreclosures also decreased 23 percent from April 2012. Total foreclosure activity in April was at its lowest level since February 2007.
