Visions for Vacancies: Former State Farm Site

The city of Rohnert Park has identified the site as part of its Priority Development Area, with shops, housing and more. What would you like to see this become?

Ever since State Farm left town in 2011, the business park with its manicured landscaping and majestic trees lining Rohnert Park Expressway has sat vacant. The city has identified the property as part of its Priority Development Area, since it’s right next to the future SMART stop, the Raley’s shopping center and the library.

Councilman Amy Ahanotu says he would like to see the spot become Rohnert Park’s downtown, with a pedestrian bridge connecting to the Civic Center and townhouses, shopping and places for both residents and visitors to stroll.

“It should be pedestrian friendly where people don’t have to run across the expressway to get to the other side,” Ahanotu says.

What do you think? What would you like to see this year transformed into? Should it become Rohnert Park's downtown?
