Three officers with the Rohnert Park Department of Public Safety were promoted Tuesday — a move that Chief Brian Masterson said has strengthened the organization even in tough budget times.

“The ability to promote in this economy says something great about the health of an organization and about Rohnert Park,” Masterson said.

Masterson said among other qualities, it was work ethic, the ability to problem-solve, honesty, integrity, empathy for others, being able to reach out to the community, moral courage and ability to lead that set the officers apart.

Torri Mayer was promoted to community supervisor.

Jette Selberg, after being moved to records in 2009 because of budget cuts, was given back her part-time position as community service officer.

Jim Brady was promoted to sergeant.

“I’m excited,” Brady said. “I’ve been looking forward to this.”

Selberg said it’s her outreach with the community that sets her job apart.

“It’s important because we serve the public,” she said. “We like to make sure that we’re doing what the community expects.”
