Should Cotati Allow For More Fast Food Restaurants?

The Cotati City Council will oversee a public hearing to consider introducing a mandate amending the Formula-Based Fast Food Restaurant ordinance.

A public hearing will take place on Wednesday, Aug. 14 at the Cotati City Hall to consider an amendment to the Formula-Based Fast Food Restaurant ordinance.

The current ordinance limits the total number of fast food restaurants and defines locations where they can conduct business.

The impetus for the public hearing is due to the large number of vacancies in Cotati’s commercial areas.

  • Limitations On Multiple Franchises Within Cotati; and
  • Distance Requirements.

As part of the ordinance, Cotati currently has a cap of 8 formula-based fast food restaurants.

The Formula-Based Fast Food Restaurant ordinance was originally passed on October 24, 2007 in response to concerns over community character and the commitment to diverse alternatives to fast food.

The entire community is invited to attend the hearing to share their thoughts on the matter.

The meeting will take place at 7:00 pm in the Cotati City Hall located at 201 West Sierra Ave.
