Rohnert Park Considers Strict Penalties On Unruly Party Animals

An ordinance will be introduced at the Rohnert Park City Council meeting on Tuesday evening to enhance penalties for loud parties.

The Rohnert Park City Council will meet on Tuesday evening to consider a request submitted by Brian Masterson, director of public safety, to impose stiffer penalties and fines on individuals for having loud parties that create a public nuisance.

According to the Press Democrat, the urgency ordinance presented by Masterson is to address what he believes will be an increase in rowdy parties as Sonoma State University prepares to begin it’s academic school year.

City officials are especially worried about large parties being hosted on off-campus student housing as it “can constitute a threat to the peace, health, safety or general welfare of the public.”
