Gregoire to Appear at 'Wine Country for Obama' Fundraiser

Washington Gov. Christine Gregoire will be the special guest at a "Wine Country for Obama" fundraiser set for Sept. 20 at the Wells Fargo Center in Santa Rosa.

Two national groups, Obama for America’s Women’s Leadership Forum and the LGBT Leadership Council, are hosting the 6 p.m. cocktail reception that will feature campaign updates by Jamie Citron, National LGBT Vote Director, Kathy Levinson, Co-chair of the LGBT Leadership Council and Tammy Paster, Director of the Women’s Leadership Council.

Local officials confirmed and sponsoring include Candidate for Sonoma County , and

Local Healdsburg philanthropists owners of Puma Springs Vineyards, are serving as the lead sponsors. Grasseschi and Crabb, along with Bev Scottland, Brenda Regan, and Eric Harrison, got involved early on to make the local fundraiser happen.

“President Obama is committed to ensuring all Americans are treated fairly. When it comes to the LGBT community, he has affirmed his personal support for same-sex marriage, repealed“ “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell,” and declared the Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA) unconstitutional, to name a few of his historic accomplishments," Crabb said.

"Mitt Romney would write discrimination into the Constitution,” he added .

“President Obama has also proven that he is a strong advocate for women and a defender of the issues that are important to women and their families," Grasseschi said.

"He signed the Lilly Ledbetter Fair Pay Restoration Act, making progress in a decades-long battle for women to get equal pay for equal work, and tripled the number of women on the Supreme Court," she added. "His support of women’s health is unsurpassed."
