Deadline is Today to Register for June Vote

Do you want to vote in the June 5 election, which includes the race to represent Rohnert Park on the board of supervisors? Be sure you're registered today, or you'll have to sit this one out.

Are you registered to vote in the June 5 election? If not, you have hours left to make sure you are able to cast your ballot for local, statewide and national office-seekers and two California ballot measures.

If you have recently changed your name, your permanent address or your political party, you are required to re-register to vote. In order to vote, you also must be a United States citizen, a California resident, you mush be 18 years old or will be 18 on or before election day and you can't be in prison or on parole for the conviction of a felony.

You can register at the county elections office, located at 435 Fiscal Dr., Santa Rosa, or mail a registration form if you can get it postmarked by midnight. The form, and a page to check whether or not you are registered to vote, are available at http://www.sos.ca.gov/

For many local voters, the June ballot includes the race to represent Rohnert Park on the county board of supervisors, and voters will get the chance to decide on whether or not to impose a five-year, $89 parcel tax on local property owners to raise money for the school district.

There are also two statewide ballot measures and races for state and national office, including the presidential primary.
