Woman Stabs Man Outside Internet Cafe

Police say the two were fighting over a mutual attraction to a third, uninvolved party

Police in Santa Rosa are investigating a fight in a parking lot outside an Internet café that left two people suffering from stab wounds Sunday night.

Officers responded to a report of an altercation in the parking lot at the Justice PCS Internet Café at 1331 Guerneville Road at about 11:50 p.m., police said.

When officers arrived they found 19-year-old transient Ernstine Louis-Jacques lying on the ground with two stab wounds in her leg, according to police.

Minutes later, the other person in the altercation, 41-year-old Santa Rosa resident Leonard James Martin, called 911 from a Safeway grocery store at 1799 Marlow Road reporting he had been stabbed, police said.

An investigation revealed that Louis-Jacques instigated the assault and stabbed Martin first, police said. Martin fought back and stabbed Louis-Jacques in the leg during the struggle, according to police. Both were transported to a hospital.

Police said the two were fighting over a mutual attraction to a third, uninvolved party.

Louis-Jacques was not arrested because of the extent of her injuries, but police will request the district attorney's office charge her for assault with a deadly weapon, police said.

Anyone with information about the stabbing incident is asked to call (707) 543-3590.
