The victim and his mother, who also was hurt during the physical altercation, were taken to a hospital for treatment and are expected to recover from their injuries, Molinari said.

Detectives learned LaFerriere drove to her estranged husband's house and confronted him in the garage with a flammable material and threatened to burn down his residence, Molinari said.

LaFerriere and her estranged husband were inside the residence when the victim's mother came home and saw LaFerriere with a knife in her hand, Molinari said.

The ensuing altercation inside the residence continued outside where neighbors aided the victim and called police, Molinari said.
