Traffic Stop Leads to Drug Arrest

Traffic stop leads to drug arrest with the assistance of a police K-9.

A Windsor man went to jail this morning after a traffic stop in the area of Golf Course Drive and Redwood Drive.

Thirty-one-year-old Riley Ansell was taken into custody shortly after being pulled over, at 11:45 a.m., by a Rohnert Park police officer and booked at the Sonoma County Jail on suspicion of marijuana possession.

The officer pulled Ansell over as he drove on the 4900 block of Golf Course Drive for allegedly not wearing his seat belt, according to police.

During the stop, the officer smelled marijuana in Ansell's vehicle, police said. Police K-9 Enzo was called in to help officers search Ansell's truck.

"Enzo searched the passenger compartment of the truck and located a marijuana cigarette, 2.1 grams of suspected methamphetamine, and a methamphetamine pipe," a Rohnert Park Department of Public Safety press release stated.

Enzo is a police dog who's been trained in both handler protection and drug detection and has thus far located drugs in five separate instances.
