Stolen-Car Pursuit Ends in Sebastopol Woman's Arrest, RP Police Say

Nobody was injured in the pursuit that resulted in the arrest of a 26-year-old Sebastopol woman, according to Rohnert Park police. Arrest information does not indicate a conviction.

A Sebastopol woman was arrested Saturday afternoon after Rohnert Park police stopped her in a stolen vehicle.

Jasmin Caunga, 26, was spotted driving a stolen Acura sedan in the area of Rohnert Park Expressway and Commerce Boulevard around 3:10 p.m., according to Rohnert Park police.

Police followed the Acura on the northbound U.S. Highway 101 and signaled for it to stop, but the car continued north on 101 at around 55 mph.

When officers turned on sirens, the car accelerated to around 65 mph and then to 80 mph, police said.

Police pursued the car until it stopped just south of state Highway 12, and Caunga was taken into custody without incident.

Police later learned that the owner of the Acura had identified Caunga as a possible suspect in the theft of the vehicle.

A female passenger in the car was found to have no involvement in or knowledge of the theft, police said.

Caunga was arrested on suspicion of vehicle theft, possession of a stolen vehicle, evading police officers, false imprisonment and driving without a license. No one was injured in the pursuit.
