Rohnert Park Woman Arrested for Burglary, Child Endangerment

Connie Holmes, 30, was arrested for shoplifting from a Kohl's department store in Petaluma and leaving her 4-year-old son locked in her car.

A woman was arrested on suspicion of burglary and child endangerment in Petaluma Thursday night, police said.

According to police, Connie Holmes, 30, of Rohnert Park was arrested after allegedly shoplifting from the Kohl's department store on North McDowell Boulevard and leaving her 4-year-old son locked in a vehicle.

Holmes, police said, had allegedly stolen merchandise from the store when the security staff at Kohl's confronted her. Holmes ran to her vehicle and drove away.

Officers responded at 9:15 p.m. and found the vehicle 15 minutes later in a dark area behind the store. The stolen property and her son were locked in the vehicle, police said.

The Petaluma Fire Department responded to gain entry to the vehicle. The child was later released to a grandparent after being taken to the Police Department. Holmes fled on foot, police said.

Petaluma police located Holmes two hours later as a friend was picking her up. Holmes was booked into Sonoma County Jail on suspicion of child endangerment and burglary. Her bail is set at $25,000.
