Rohnert Park Police Car Collides With Vehicle While Responding to Vehicle Fire

The officer who was driving the patrol car and the person she collided with sustained minor injuries.

A Rohnert Park Department of Public Safety patrol car collided with another vehicle while responding to a vehicle fire this afternoon, the department said in a news release.

The female officer was responding around 1:50 p.m. to a Code 3 alarm about a vehicle fire on Adrian Drive, the Department of Public Safety said.

The officer was using the car's emergency lights and siren. As she made her way through the intersection of Rohnert Park Expressway and Commerce Boulevard, the patrol car collided with a vehicle traveling east through the intersection, the Department of Public Safety said.

The officer and the driver of the second car received minor injuries and were evaluated by Sonoma Life Support personnel, the Department of Public Safety said.

The California Highway Patrol responded and is investigating the incident.
