Rohnert Park Police and Fire: Citizen's Academy Now Enrolling

Interested in learning the ins and outs of what it takes to be a public safety officer in Rohnert Park? Sign up for the citizen's academy starting Feb. 27. The program runs till June 18. Classes are held Monday nights from 6 to 9 p.m.

The Department if Public Safety is launching a Citizen's Academy — a 16-week program aimed at teaching regular people about police and fire — in a few weeks, and the department is encouraging anyone who lives or works in Rohnert Park to apply.

Reaching out to local citizens is in line with the department's goal of community policing — working with local businesses, parents, kids in the schools and other stakeholders to make the city safer.

The effort builds relationships with residents and local businesses, said Chief Brian Masterson.
