UPDATED: Rohnert Park Man in Deadly Weekend Crash Identified

California Highway Patrol officials say the vehicle swerved off the road.

The Sonoma County coroner's office has identified a man who was killed in a solo-vehicle crash Sunday morning as 32-year-old Luis Roberto Camacho-Nunez, of Rohnert Park.

Camacho-Nunez was driving north on U.S. Highway 101 south of Hearn Avenue in Santa Rosa at about 5 a.m. when his 2001 Nissan Xterra drove onto shoulder and struck a redwood tree, according to the California Highway Patrol.

There was heavy fog in the area, and visibility was between 75 and 100 feet at the time of the crash, CHP officials said.

Camacho-Nunez was pronounced dead at the scene. No other vehicles were involved in the crash.

CHP investigators said alcohol does not appear to be a factor in the crash but Camacho-Nunez might not have been wearing his seatbelt.
