By Bay City News Service

The Sonoma County coroner's office has identified a man killed in a suspected drunken-driving crash near Santa Rosa early Saturday morning as 26-year-old Michael James Sarmento.

The crash happened at about 2:50 a.m. on Bennett Valley Road east
of Carrithers Road. Sarmento was driving a 1999 Dodge Ram west on Bennett Valley Road when the pickup truck went off the north side of the roadway, then veered the other way, crossing all lanes and going onto the road's southern shoulder, where it struck a tree, California Highway Patrol Officer Marcus Hawkins said.
