Rohnert Park Man Arrested for Attempted Murder

Cotati police responded to a report around 1 p.m. Sunday of a shooting victim lying in a sidewalk on East Cotati Avenue.

Cotati police arrested Rohnert Park resident Antonio Harless, 39, yesterday after he allegedly shot a person outside a Cotati home. He is being held without bail at Sonoma County Jail for attempted murder.

The victim, whose name has not yet been released, was found lying on a sidewalk around 1 p.m. on the 700 block of East Cotati Avenue. Police said the initial altercation occurred in a nearby house. 

The victim, who was in critical condition, was immediately transported to a local hospital.

Cotati police officer Jason Yarnall was first on the scene after the shooting victim was reported at 12:54 p.m. Police said an unidentified suspect fled the scene in a four-door sedan prior to the officer's arrival. 

Witnesses described the suspect as a white male adult, approximately six feet tall, with a bald or shaved head who wore large earrings, police said. Witnesses also reported that a female was in the car when the man fled.

Rohnert Park and Cotati police got a search warrant, and found Harless at his home, on the 700 block of Rohnert Park Expressway, when they showed up for the search.

Police said the case is still under investigation. Anyone with information should call officer Jason Yarnall with the Cotati Police Department at 707-792-4611. Harless is scheduled to be arraigned in Sonoma County Superior Court on Tuesday afternoon.
