Rohnert Park Man Arrested After Displaying A Simulated Firearm

Raymond Larsen, 52, was arrested on suspicion of DUI and resisting arrest after displaying a simulated weapon at another motorist.

On Aug. 12, Rohnert Park safety officers, with the assistance of Cotati police officers, arrested 52-year-old Rohnert Park resident Raymond Larsen on suspicion of DUI and resisting arrest.

Earlier in the evening at 10:15 pm, the Rohnert Park Department of Public Safety received a call stating that a man, who would later be identified as Larsen, was at “M” park armed with a firearm.

The reporting party stated that the male suspect left the area in a white Ford Expedition.

Officers called to the scene were able to find the vehicle matching the description and followed the Ford into the parking lot of the Wine Country RV Park, where they ordered Larsen out of the Ford at gunpoint.

Larsen got out of the Ford and laid on his stomach in the parking lot. However, he made several attempts to get up to his feet despite the officer’s order to remain on the ground.

Officers search the Ford and the surround area, but did not locate a firearm.

A follow up investigation revealed that Larsen pointed either his hand or an object that looked like gun at the reporting party following what appeared to be a road rage incident.

Larsen had the odor of alcohol and had symptoms consistent with someone who had been driving under the influence of alcohol.

Larsen refused to submit to a chemical test to determine his blood alcohol content.

He was later booked into Sonoma County jail on suspicion of resisting arrest and driving under the influence of alcohol.

This was the second incident in 24 hours in which an intoxicated driver pointed a simulated firearm at passing motorists.
