Pedestrian Hit by SUV in Santa Rosa from Rohnert Park

Police are asking for the public's help in a hit-and-run involving a pedestrian on a Santa Rosa street Wednesday afternoon appears to have been an intentional, gang-related act, Santa Rosa police said. The man struck was a 19-year-old Rohenrt Park man.

Around 4 p.m., officers learned that a group of people on foot had gotten into a confrontation with several people in an SUV, police said.

The driver had accelerated toward the group of pedestrians and struck one of them, according to police.

The SUV was last seen traveling east on West College Avenue. It was described as an older-model brown or tan vehicle with oxidized paint. The occupants were all males wearing dark clothing, police said.

The Rohnert Park resident who was hit by the SUV was placed into a dark-colored vehicle similar to a Cadillac and driven east on West College Avenue, police said.

A short time later, the victim was pushed out of the vehicle near West Ninth Street and Saracen Road, where he was left in the street.

The victim was found and transported to a hospital to be treated for his injuries, which did not appear to be life-threatening, according to police.

Detectives from the Santa Rosa Police Department's Gang Crimes Team were called to take over the investigation.
