Police Seeking Public's Help in Sunday Night Attack that Left Two "Good Samaritans" Injured

The fight started when six people, none of whom are from Rohnert Park, pulled in to Safeway parking lot and dangerously approached an elderly man.

Police responded multiple 911 calls Sunday at 9:43 p.m., when a fight erupted at a Rohnert Park Safeway. Four men and two women from cities throughout the North Bay pulled in to the grocery store parking lot, piled out of a white BMW, and allegedly approached an elderly man to attack him.

Seeing the the six suspects — Brian Butler, 23, and Whitney Milestone, 25, both of Santa Rosa, Jared Cavanaugh, 25, of Novato, Justin Casarotti, 27, of Petaluma, Alyssa Casarotti, 23, also of Petaluma and Jordan Pool, 23, of Ukiah — approach the elderly man, police said two good samaritans pulled in to Safeway behind the BMW and told the six suspects to "leave the elderly man alone."

"That is when the six indivuduals turned their attention to the good samaritans," reported police, who said they arrived on scene within three minutes of receiving 911 calls. Rohnert Park authorities said the "good samaritans," are a man and a woman in thier 20s, but withheld their names from public documents.

The six suspects together attacked the male victim, police said, by punching and kicking him to the ground. The female in her 20s and other surrounding witnesses yelled at them the mob to stop. That's when the two female suspects began attacking the female victim, police said.

Seeing the fight, other witnesses stepped in and broke up the fight. The six attackers fled in the white BMW, after robbing several of the victims who intervened.

Police, responding to emergency calls, pulled over the white BMW while traveling southbound on Commerce Boulevard on a traffic stop. All six suspects were arrested and booked in to Sonoma County Jail on robbery charges.

The victims at the scene declined medical treatment on site, but drove themselves to the hospital, authorities said. The male victim sustained moderate injuries to his face and abdomen. The female victim had minor injuries.
