Suspect in 2009 Bus Sex Assault Arrested

Police say the suspect assaulted a 15-year-old Rohnert Park girl on a city bus

An Oakland man has been arrested on suspicion of a 2009 sexual assault in which a Rohnert Park girl was allegedly assaulted on a city bus.

Perry George Roberson, 54, was arrested at his home Tuesday, on charges of lewd and lascivious act with a child, lewd acts in public and sexual battery.

Police say Roberson, an Oakland resident, exposed himself to the 15-year-old girl and touched her with his genitals. Detectives recovered DNA evidence from the crime scene, but it would be another three years before a match could be made.

“If there is no DNA in the Department of Justice database, sometimes it can take a long time to make a match,” said Sgt. Jeff Nicks, who handled the case for Rohnert Park Department of Public Safety. “This is a really bad guy that needed to be taken off the street.”
