One Person Killed in Early Morning Crash

Rohnert Park man injured when vehicle crashed into a tree this morning.

One person died and a Rohnert Park man was injured when a pickup truck crashed into a tree early this morning in Santa Rosa, according to the California Highway Patrol.

At about 2:50 a.m., a 1999 red Dodge Ram was traveling west on Bennett Valley road when it left the north side of the roadway, then it turned and crossed all lanes before leaving the south side of the road, the CHP said.

The truck spun clockwise and then hit a tree.

The passenger, Michael Dibernardo, 25, has minor injuries. The driver was pronounced dead at the crash site.

Alcohol is believed to be a contributing factor.
