Kenneth M. Hogue, 33, is suspected of stealing several vehicles in Rohnert Park and Cotati.

Officers arrested a man allegedly caught in the act of burglarizing a car on Monday night, Rohnert Park police said.

Rohnert Park officers were initially dispatched at around 9 p.m. to assist Cotati police in their search for a suspect in a vehicle burglary near East Cotati Avenue.

Police did not find the suspect but were dispatched again at around 10:30 p.m. to resume the search for the suspect who had apparently continued to burglarize cars in Cotati and Rohnert Park, police said.

Officers discovered Kenneth M. Hogue, 33, removing items from a parked car at 307 Burton Ave. Hogue discarded a bag that allegedly contained stolen property and ran, police said.

Hogue climbed over backyard fences to evade police and a K-9 unit was brought to the scene to assist in the search.

The K-9 unit alerted officers to Hogue's location in the bushes and Hogue allegedly ran north towards Burton Court, police said.

An officer told Hogue that the dog would be released if he did not stop, according to police.

Hogue did not stop and the dog was released. The K-9 stopped Hogue at Burton Court and he was taken into custody and turned over to Cotati
police.

Stolen property from several vehicle thefts was recovered and no one was injured in the chase, police said.
