A 67-year-old man was robbed in a parking lot at Graton Resort and Casino in Rohnert Park Tuesday morning, according to the Sonoma County Sheriff's Department.

The robbery was reported at about 6:30 a.m., when the victim was struck in the head with an unknown object and robbed outside the casino, according to the sheriff's office.

The victim said he was robbed by two suspects, who stole an undisclosed amount of cash and personal property, the sheriff's office said.

The victim was taken to Memorial Hospital to be treated for severe head trauma, the sheriff's office said.

The incident remains under investigation by the sheriff's department and Graton Casino security personnel.

Locals objecting to the casino, said 'crime would go up.' Muggings happen everywhere just the same. It is sad to know a man who is 67, gets severely injured like this. Most holiday stories are bad. More suicides happen this time of year, more fights between families; more chaos over shopping and more drinking and hell raising. Christmas has turned into a have a.. 'happy greedy commercialized self indulgent' hypocrisy. Nothing about the message of peace, or love, hardly at all. More are forgotten and left alone; than any other time of year, and is why people are left to die cold, alone and lonely. The forgotten elderly, the shut ins, the one's who have no one. Or the one's who have family and are cast aside due to not getting along, etc. I feel bad for that man who got mugged, real bad. Maybe he had no one, no family, and lived alone. So he went to the casino to have a little joy, or a bit of fun by himself. Anyone who attacks people, esp. the elderly, should be in jail for a very long time. Guess these attackers thought no cops would be hangin' around at 6:30 in the morning. RPPD better beef up their rounds after this.
