Major Injury Accident Ties Up Adobe Road; 2 Sent to Hospital

Driver seen weaving in and out of traffic just minutes before he collides with tractor-trailer

A Napa man suffered major injuries when his Jeep Cherokee collided with a tractor-trailer on Adobe Road east of Petaluma Monday morning, according to the California Highway Patrol.

A caller told CHP that the Jeep's driver, identified as David Behymer, 69, of Napa, was driving recklessly on state Highway 116, weaving and passing over the double-yellow line shortly before 7am, CHP Officer Jon Sloat said.

Less than a minute later, the Jeep collided with the tractor-trailer, driven by Anthony Michalek, 56, of Geyserville. That caused the big-rig to strike a utility pole and brought down power lines, completely blocking the roadway. The road remained closed as of 3:15 p.m., Sloat said.

Both men were taken to Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital, Sloat said.
