Family and friends of Jeff Asher are asking for the public's help in identifying the driver of a car that struck the Petaluma man as he was riding his motorcycle on Old Redwood Highway on Sunday, August 19.
The accident left the 58-year-old Asher with eight broken ribs, a collapsed lung and a broken scapula and elbow. He is currently being treated in the Intensive Care Unit in Kaiser Santa Rosa.
Meanwhile, scant details have been released about the driver. According to Asher's girlfriend Robin Gaynor, the incident occurred around 10am on Old Redwood Highway and Railroad Drive. The driver has been described as a heavyset blond woman with "poofy" hair driving a silver 4-door Honda.
"We do not know if the driver is aware of the injuries she caused by her carelessness in trying to pass him, hitting him and driving away," said Gaynor. "I hope that she will come forward after hearing this or maybe someone else will who knows about this incident."
Anyone who may have witnessed the accident or has information about it is asked to call the California Highway Patrol at 707-588-1400.
