Early Morning Fire Destroys Rohnert Park Apartment Clubhouse

No injuries were reported in this early-morning fire.

Rohnert Park firefighters battled an early morning fire that apparently started inside a clubhouse at the townhouse complex at 6140 Country Club Drive.

Reports of the fire came in at 12:47 a.m. Friday morning and responding firefighters could see smoke coming from the clubhouse located in the middle of the complex.

Fire crews started to attack the fire and at one point a police sergeant who was directing the incoming first responders had to stop a resident who attempted to enter the clubhouse to check for people inside, according to police.

Rohnert Park fire crews were joined by Rancho Adobe Fire District and Central Fire crews while a Santa Rosa Fire engine assisted with calls. The firefighters battled heavy smoke and flames and stopped the fire from destroying a nearby residential structure when a nearby tree caught fire.

Inside the clubhouse, firefighters dealt with heavy smoke and flames and
began ventilating the roof to allow the smoke to leave the building. Crews were able to gain control of the fire at 1:08 a.m.

The damage to the building was contained to the pool equipment room and to the walls and roof of the the structure.

Firefighters determined that the fire began inside the clubhouse pool equipment room, which was empty at the time, and was caused by a heating unit.

No injuries were reported and flames caused $30,000 worth of damage.
