The structure of the Rohnert Park Department of Public Safety has again drawn questions about its combination of Police and Fire personnel, according to the Santa Rosa Press Democrat.
In two developed stories published Sunday, reporters Jeremy Hay and Randi Rossman explore several lines of doubt about the combined departments, ranging from understaffed posts to disengaged personnel.
In the tight-knit fraternity of firefighters, whose members are loath to publicly criticize one another, the responses represent a startling mistrust of Rohnert Park's ability to fight fires.
Rohnert Park Public Safety Director Brian Masterson flatly rejected the criticisms, saying data commonly used to assess a fire department's performance show no evidence of problems.
Patch will be seeking comment from city officials in the coming days.
