Driver Distracted by Fast Food Hits Lamppost

Incident on Enterprise Drive adds food to distracted driving possibilities

A man who said he was distracted when a bag of food fell over in the car drove into a light pole and received minor injuries Friday evening, according to police.

Rohnert Park resident Brian Virgin, 30, crashed into a street light pole at Enterprise Drive and Seed Farm shortly after 9 p.m., according to police.
Officers found Virgin standing next to his vehicle, a 2000 Ford Expedition, the front end of which was wrapped around the light post. The pole was bent, but still standing.

Virgin complained of neck and back pain but refused medical attention.
He told police he had just bought a bag of fast food nearby, but as he was driving east on Enterprise, the bag fell over on the passenger seat. When he bent over to pick it up, the car struck the south curb of Enterprise, rolled up onto the sidewalk and hit the pole.
