Checkpoint Busts 10 for Driving Without a License, 3 for DUI

One Kenwood resident and two Rohnert Park residents were busted for driving while impaired.

 

A Saturday night DUI and Driver’s License Checkpoint in Rohnert Park busted more people for driving without a license than driving while impaired, according to the Rohnert Park Department of Public Safety (DPS).

The checkpoint, which screened eastbound drivers on Rohnert Park Expressway near State Farm Drive, started at 7 p.m. on Aug. 10 and ended at 1 a.m. on Aug. 11.

Data from the checkpoint, provided by the Rohnert Park DPS:

  • A total of 1073 vehicles passed through the checkpoint.
  • Of the vehicles through the checkpoint, 1029 were screened by officers for signs of DUI and license checks.
  • A total of 46 drivers were directed into a nearby parking area for further contact with officers for either DUI evaluation or driver’s license checks.
  • Of the drivers directed off the line for further evaluation, officers arrested and cited 18 drivers.
  • Of those arrested, 3 drivers were arrested for DUI, 3 were driving with a suspended license, 10 were for driving without a license, and 1 was for a felony warrant.
  • A total of 2 vehicles were towed.

One Kenwood resident and two Rohnert Park residents were arrested for driving under the influence.

Funding for this checkpoint was provided to the Rohnert Park Department of Public Safety by a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety, through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
