Cell Phone Violation Leads to Major Narcotics Bust

Rohnert Park police arrested a 21-year-old Clear Lake woman Wednesday while traveling northbound on Hwy. 101.

Rohnert Park police arrested Kelly Riehm, of Clear Lake around 11 a.m. Wednesday, after officers noticed the 21-year-old using her cell phone while driving as she entered the on-ramp to Highway 101.

Police pulled over Riehm near Baker Avenue in Santa Rosa and noticed a narcotics violation. Subsequently, officers found more than six pounds of marijuana, LSD and ecstacy tablets, said Lt. Patrick Strouse of the Rohnert Park Department of Public Safety.

The case is still under investigation, police said. It's unclear whether the violation was for was talking on the phone or texting.

Strouse said Riehm was booked at Sonoma County Jail with multiple felonies, including possession of narcotis with intent to sell, possession of LSD and ecstacy and transporting narcotics.

Police said the discovery is somewhat rare.

"It's the quantity," Strouse said. "Six ponds of packaged marijauna is a lot,  you don't run across that all the time."
