Halfway to their goal of raising $4,000 to pay for their dog Sampson's knee surgery, Rohnert Park couple Bill and Kathy Mannone were dealt a major blow in July when someone stole all of the recycling they'd been collecting from the community to generate additional funds.
Undeterred, the Mannones – with a heap of help from local residents and business owners – have continued gathering recycling in an effort to reach their $4,000 goal. Now the couple is turning to a "Help Sampson" t-shirt campaign, hoping to sell 30 t-shirts with Sampson's face on them and raise $300 in the process.
The Mannone family quickly contacted the Rohnert Park Police and filed a police report regarding the incident.
“Someone stole the cans, plastics and glass that have been dropped off by different people,” said Mannone.
The Mannone family has conducted bake sales, yard sales and a recycling drive to pay for Sampson’s ruptured ACL surgery and postoperative care.
