Laguna Explorations: Lower Stone Farm Docent-led Walk

At the intersection of Irwin Creek and the Laguna de Santa Rosa lies a lovely site with mature valley oak trees, riparian vegetation and lots of interesting plants at their height of spring growth. Bring a snack and join Laguna Foundation docent Doris Parker for a special visit to Lower Stone Farm, a location not usually open to the public. Recently, Black-crowned Night Herons and Great Egrets from the West 9th Street rookery have been released back into the wild here after help from The Bird Rescue Center and rehabilitation at the International Bird Rescue Center in Fairfield. We will keep an eye out for these younsters and scan for White Pelicans or Bald Eagles circling overhead while getting to know the Laguna a little better. There will also be some quiet time for your own nature observations.

After the walk, we invite you to stay on at the Laguna Environmental Center to enjoy the Second Saturday of the Month Open House with nature activities, tours, or self-guided time enjoying the interpretive displays, gift shop, and the new art exhibit by Watercolor Artists of Sonoma County.
Full details on where to meet for the walk and what to bring will be emailed upon registration. This will be an adult-oriented walk but docents enjoy children too! Distance approximately 2.5 miles over flat but uneven terrain.

$10 suggested donation. Pre-registration required. To register with a $10 donation, please go to http://www.lagunadesantarosa.org/laguna_walks_classes.shtml. To register without making a $10 donation, please email anita@lagunafoundation.org
