Rohnert Park Voters Approve Measure A Sales Tax Extension

Only measure on the ballot receives majority approval.

Rohnert Park voters approved Measure A, an extension of a half-cent sales tax approved by voters in 2010, according to unofficial election results.

The half-cent tax was set to expire in 2015, but under Measure A, it will continue until it is terminated by a unanimous vote of the City Council.

Measure A needed the approval of the majority of the voters and received 68 percent approval. Proponents said the existing tax helped police reduce the crime rate to the lowest level in 10 years.

The tax helps pay for emergency responses, maintains fire protection services, neighborhood police patrols and gang and sex offender enforcement, according to proponents.

Measure A was the only measure on the ballot.
