Friday

New Movie Releases: This weekend boasts a bevy of new movies opening at the Reading Cinemas Rohnert Park 16. For kids, Disney has released the classic Beauty and the Beast (also available in 3-D). For those who like action, find the fast-paced film, Contraband, starring Mark Wahlberg. Lastly the musical comedy Joyful Noise, starring Dolly Parton and Queen Latifah, makes its debut. Saturday

Winter Wineland: This special winter event gives people a chance to meet local winemakers, taste new release and library wines, as well as enjoy food and art. The event runs Saturday and Sunday. If you go: Tickets and more information is available online. The event runs from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. both days and tickets are $45 for two days or $35 for Sunday. 

Joan Rivers: The always entertaining and never politically correct Joan Rivers will present an evening of her riffs on observations — everything from pop culture to fashion. If you go: Rivers performs at the Wells Fargo Center for the Arts, which is located at 50 Mark West Springs Road in Santa Rosa. The show starts at 8 p.m. Tickets are $30 to $50, available online

Sunday:

Trio Navarro: The Green Music Center presents Trio Navarro. The group is comprised of Roy Malan (violin), Jill Brindel (cello) and Marilyn Thompson (piano). The group performs Brahms' second Piano Trio in C Major and Schumann's G Minor Trio. If you go: The event starts at 6 p.m. at the Green Music Center, room 1028, which is located at the north end of Sonoma State University. The Green center is accessible off Rohnert Park Expressway before Petaluma Hill Road. Tickets are $12 for general admission, $10 for faculty and alumni and $8 for seniors and students.

Cotati Creek Stewardship Day: Another nice looking day to give back to the community with a stewardship day. Join your friends and neighbors in keeping our town protected and beautiful, by helping pull weeds and keep the Laguna de Santa Rosa running clean. If you go: The event runs from 9 a.m. to noon and if you want to help simply meet at the Cotati Well Lot #2 (Ladybug Lot) wearing clothes to work in.

Lunar New Year Tet Festival: The Sonoma Vietnamese Association celebrates the Lunar Year of the Dragon at their annual Tet Festival. Along with Asian food and drinks, come out to enjoy a variety of entertainment including lion dances, games for kids, karaoke contest and cultural dances. If you go: The event runs from noon to 6 p.m. at the Santa Rosa Veterans Memorial Building located at 1351 Maple Avenue, Santa Rosa. The event is free.
