Update: NB 101 Traffic Shift Nears

A Caltrans spokesperson said the construction should be complete by 2013.

Starting Friday, drivers headed north on U.S. Highway 101 in Rohnert Park will be directed onto a newly built overpass, a Caltrans spokesperson said.

All northbound traffic on Highway 101 will be shifted onto the new portion of the overpass on the east side of the highway near Wilfred Avenue by Saturday morning, spokesman Bob Haus said.

Haus said southbound traffic should be shifted onto a second new overpass during the week of July 25 and the Santa Rosa Avenue on-ramp will be reopened. Older roads have been demolished to make way for the new overpasses and a new road has been built beneath the southbound overpass, creating a new east-west connection in Rohnert Park, Haus added.

On Aug. 1, a that runs beneath the highway will be closed for 12 days to demolish an old overpass, according Haus. The entire construction project should be completed by 2013, he said.
