This Week's Rohnert Park Headlines

Homicide investigation, historic building getting demolished and SMART station.

This week, Rohnert Park Patch launched with a , located at 435 Southwest Blvd. The structure was the first police and fire headquarters, the first City Hall, it's been home to NOAH and the Boys and Girls Club. Check out the article from Rohnert Park historian Tim Danisi here.

The city may be in tough financial times, but a couple projects in the works aim to turn blighted areas into productive community spaces.

Take the dirt-filled pool at Lady Bug Park for example. One Rohnert Park resident is trying to get permission to there. And the Parks and Recreation Commission is working on a project that would enlist area schools to on walls and possibly on the freeway underpass on the north side of town.

This Tuesday, the City Council will mull whether or not to move the north Rohnert Park SMART station to a more central location near the library. A SMART report was weighted heavily in favor of moving the station to a more dense neighborhood.
