This Week's Rohnert Park Headlines

Green Music Center donation, unfunded liabilities and a humanitarian trip to Mexico.

This week we started with an in-depth look at how the city's long-term credit rating could be further crippled by healthcare-related costs owed to retired public employees. According to city financial experts, Rohnert Park has never put money aside and allowed it to grow. A couple times in the past, monies were saved in a retirement fund, only to be used later. An actuarial report published in February puts Rohnert Park's total unfunded liability at 53.2 million..

The North Bay Centre, off of Expressway and Commerce Boulevard in Rohnert Park, is being refurbished by a Corte Madera-based developer, but the City Council this week disagreed on a couple building conditions. Mostly, it centered around environmental practices, specifically, rain water reuse. .
