The Weekend Planner

The Lion in Winter, another great musical festival, and an Art & Garden Festival!

It can be hard to keep track of local events. But we here at the Patch try and keep tabs on things so you can have a one-stop spot to find ideas for the best things to see and do. Check out what is happening around town and around the county.

Friday

The Rohnert Park Farmer's Market kicks off at 5 p.m. and run until 8 p.m. With plenty of food vendors, beer, wine, and stuff for the kids it is a great time for all. The weather should be great and music will be provided by the Beatles Tribute band - Pepperland!

New Movies this weekend at the Rohnert Park 16 are: The Amazing Spider-Man (it opened Tuesday) which is a reboot of this classic done amazingly well but geared towards adults and not little kids. Savages opens on Friday and looks to be a very intense action/drama about pot growers facing off against the Mexican cartel. Katy Perry - Part of Me also opens and is tour performance piece.

Live Music includes Yo! Pizzaface playing rock/funk/blues at the Tradewinds, the Tal Morris Band hits the stage at 9:30 p.m. at Spancky's Bar, and Tainted Love will be rocking the Last Day Saloon at 9:30 p.m.

Saturday

The Green World Music Festival kicks off in Sonoma on Saturday from 4:00 p.m. to 12 a.m. They will combine world class acts, food, drinks, local crafts, and more. Tickets are $25 at the gate.

The Lion in Winter will be presented by Main Stage West and the New Spreckels Theatre Company this weekend. This powerful play has a well paced plot with great dialogue and should keep you on the edge of your seat. It plays on Saturday at 8:00 p.m. and Sunday at 2:00 p.m.

Sunday

Art & Garden Festival! Pop down to Petaluma from 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. to enjoy a unique event in the historic Petaluma Downtown. The 11th Annual Festival will feature music, food, vendor booths, and family fun.

Make sure to check out Rohnert Park Patch's events calendar, where you can also add your own events immediately and free of charge!

I agree! Local, organic and let's become a more healthy community. Walmart is not doing anythingRead More good with selling cheaper things for our families when its going to make us sick in the long run.

The writer acknowledges no "cost" to the local community for its globalized retailing.Read More Walmart produces some jobs, and undercuts jobs at other local employers who can't compete with those low prices. THINK globally, but ACT locally! Purchase from those who keep more dollars in our community! That ain't Walmart!
