Sonoma State Alumni Finalists In Statewide Competition

Two Sonoma State University graduates, Nick Papadopoulos and Joanna Cedar, are finalists at the second annual Sierra Nevada Innovation Challenge.

Former Sonoma State students Nick Papadopoulos and Joanna Cedar who created a website that connects farmers and stores with organizations feeding the needy are finalists for a GLOBIE award, given to innovative California companies.

The SSU alums started CropMobster, an online platform that allows food producers to advertise excess food and divert it to local food banks and other organizations working to reduce hunger in Sonoma County.

CropMoster will compete with 50 other finalists for the 2013 Most Innovative New Product in non-metro California prize.The statewide competition serves as a public launch for many new products from both long-standing and start-up businesses. During the competition, entrepreneurs must give a six-minute presentation and make a case about why their product will change the world.
