Rohnert Park Places Restrictions On Five Types Of Businesses

The Rohnert Park City Council adopted five emergency ordinances on Tuesday that restricts certain types of businesses from applying for new business licenses.

Rohnert Park is constantly looking for ways to expand and grow new businesses in the community, but on Tuesday the Rohnert Park City Council approved of five ordinances that would limit specific types of businesses from requesting new business licenses for at least 45 days.

The types of businesses that face restriction are the following:

Pawn shops

Adult entertainment enterprises

Check cashing shops

Cyber cafes

Electronic message centers

According to an article in the Press Democrat, the council and the city is concerned about a blitz of such businesses applying to open in Rohnert Park to serve the customers that will be frequenting the yet to be opened Graton Resort & Casino.

The council did note that this was just a temporary measure taken while the city evaluates the impact of the casino.
