Rohnert Park Man Killed in Highway 101 Crash Identified

The identity of the man who died tragically Sunday morning in Marin has been confirmed

A Rohnert Park man was killed Sunday morning in a solo-vehicle crash on U.S. Highway 101 in Marin County. Marin County coroner's Sgt. Keith Boyd identified the crash victim as 33-year-old Jose Hernandez.

Hernandez was driving a 1993 Honda Civic hatchback in the No. 1 lane of northbound Highway 101 south of the Sonoma County line when the crash happened around 7:45 a.m., CHP Officer Eric Hohmeister said.

When the car drifted to the left into the dirt center median, Hernandez overcorrected and crossed the No. 1 and 2 lanes, then struck and broke a guardrail on the right shoulder, Hohmeister said. The Honda came to rest in a ditch just east of the guardrail, Hohmeister said.
