Check traffic updates on our live commute map.

Lanes on state Highway 116 and U.S. Highway 101 will be closed during distressed pavement repairs in Sonoma County this week, Caltrans officials said.

Monday night's repairs will take place on state Highway 116 at various locations within Sebastapol. The Cotati section of state Highway 116 will be under repair Tuesday night.

U.S. Highway 101 will be under repair Wednesday and Thursday between Rohnert Park Expressway and Santa Rosa Avenue. The work will take place from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. from Monday through Thursday nights.

Caltrans is alerting drivers to allow for extra travel time, as delays are expected.

Ongoing construction on Hwy. 101 in Sonoma County, from Cotati to Santa Rosa, is part of a project to build High-Occupancy Vehicle, or diamond lanes, in each direction. Part of the project is also building new sound walls along the highway, widening bridges at area creek intersections, replacing the Hwy. 101 and 116 interchanges and rebuilding undercrossings at Sierra Avenue and Railroad Avenue.

"The increase in traffic volumes in the past several years has increased both traffic congestion and the duration of the peak traffic period on Route 101," Caltrans said in a statement. "Since Route 101 is the primary north-south travel artery in Sonoma County, reducing traffic congestion in the entire corridor is a vital component in accommodating continued growth."
