Legislature to Decide on Casino Deal

Slated for Tuesday. What do you think of the proposed casino and resort?

According to a Press Democrat article, "the Senate Governmental Organization committee will take public testimony and hear analysis of the tribe’s written agreement with the state — called a compact — that Gov. Jerry Brown signed March 27. The committee will not vote on the compact."

The Graton tribe has partnered with Station Casinos LLC of Las Vegas to build and operate the casino. Station Casinos emerged from Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection in June.

The vote on the casino and resort, originally expected to take months, is quick, officials said.

“I think it’s moving shockingly fast,” state Sen. Noreen Evans, D-Santa Rosa, told the Press Democrat. “There are still a number of issues I would like to see worked out locally before I support it.”

What do you think of the proposed casino? Do you think it's much-needed economic stability for Rohnert Park, or are you worried about how the casino will change this town?
